Rent FAQs

The New World Center hosts a wide range of private, corporate, cultural and social events, including meetings, conferences, receptions, galas, dinners, weddings, product launches, award ceremonies, filming, photo shoots, premieres and private performances. 

Available spaces include the Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall, Truist Pavilion, Atrium, Rooftop Garden, Donor Lounge, Ensemble Rooms and additional support spaces. Spaces may be rented individually or combined for larger event experiences. 

 

Yes. Many events use multiple spaces for different parts of the experience such as arrivals in the Atrium, a presentation in the Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall or Truist Pavilion, and a reception on the Rooftop Garden or in the Donor Lounge. 

Capacities vary by space, layout, staging, catering, production and guest flow. The New World Center can support everything from intimate meetings to large receptions, dinners, presentations and performances.

No. The Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall is designed for exceptional acoustic and performance experiences, but it is also highly flexible for keynote presentations, general sessions, award ceremonies, dinners, receptions, private performances, broadcast programs and immersive multimedia events. 

Yes. The New World Center can host wedding ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, welcome receptions, farewell brunches and related celebrations. The Rooftop Garden is a beautiful option for ceremonies and outdoor receptions, while the Truist Pavilion and Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall can support ceremonies, dinners and larger celebrations. Generally, the New World Center requires large weddings to have a professional wedding planner. We are happy to recommend wedding planners that have previously done weddings at our venue. 

Yes. The New World Center can accommodate filming, photography, interviews, commercial shoots, editorial shoots, premieres and other visual media projects. Requests are reviewed based on scope, schedule, access needs, staffing and venue availability. 

Yes. The Rooftop Garden is available for outdoor receptions, seated dinners, wedding ceremonies and private gatherings. Because Miami weather can change quickly, every Rooftop Garden event must have a confirmed indoor weather backup, with no exceptions. Our team will review backup options with you during the planning process based on your guest count, event format and venue availability. 

SoundScape Park is adjacent to New World Center and may be part of the broader guest experience. However, it is a public municipal park owned and operated by the City of Miami Beach. Submit a rental inquiry with your preferred date, estimated guest count, event type, and any known catering, production, or space needs. Our team will review availability and provide feedback on the best options and next steps. 

We recommend reaching out as early as possible, especially for large events, weddings, galas, conferences, high-demand dates, multi-space events, or programs with significant production needs. 

The New World Center is first and foremost the home of New World Symphony and its Fellows. Our private event calendar is built around the institution’s rehearsal, performance, education and artistic schedule, so availability can be more limited than at a traditional event venue. The earlier you inquire, the more flexibility our team will have when reviewing dates and space options. 

The process typically begins with a rental inquiry, followed by an availability review, space recommendations, proposal, contract, planning and final coordination. 

Because the New World Center operates as both a performance venue and an orchestral academy for New World Symphony Fellows, private rentals are scheduled around the organization’s artistic and institutional calendar. Once availability is confirmed, our team will guide you through the planning process, including space use, timing, vendor coordination, production needs, and venue operations. 

No. The New World Center customizes each estimate based on the client’s usage of the building and equipment. 

Rehearsal, setup, and load-out needs vary by event. Events with significant production, catering, décor, entertainment, or multi-space use may require additional time for load-in, rehearsal, room turns, or strike. Our team will help determine the schedule needed for your event. All these elements will be included in the venue cost estimate.  

Yes. Site visits are available by appointment and are strongly encouraged. A walkthrough helps our team understand your vision and recommend the best spaces, layouts and guest flow. 

Typically, the venue supplies staff to operate the building and equipment, including all front-of-house and production staff. Clients are responsible for guest registration unless using the New World Center’s ticketing facilities. 

Yes. The New World Center will provide security personnel and police officers (where required). All public ticketed performances and events serving alcohol will require a police officer on-site. All guests and event staff must go through metal detectors before entering the venue. No weapons are allowed inside the building. The New World Center retains sole responsibility in determining what security measures are required. These costs will be reflected in your cost estimate. 

Yes. Insurance requirements apply to both clients and vendors depending on various factors. Outside vendors are required to provide certificates of insurance before working on-site. For smaller events, New World Center can provide insurance through it’s Tenant User Liability Insurance Policy (TULIP). Our team will confirm insurance requirements during contracting and planning.  

No. The New World Center is not a union venue. Clients may work with approved outside vendors and production partners, provided all insurance requirements, safety standards, venue policies and technical review requirements are met. 

Yes. The New World Center works exclusively with Thierry Isambert Culinary & Event Design (TICED) for food and beverage. Led by Thierry Isambert, a classically trained French chef from the Champagne region of France, TICED brings refined culinary execution, hospitality, and presentation to dinners, receptions, galas, weddings and corporate events. 

Catering is exclusive through Thierry Isambert Culinary & Event Design except for film shoots where craft services are permitted.  

Yes. Clients may bring in outside vendors for décor, furniture, floral, entertainment, photography, planning, production and other non-food-and-beverage event elements, subject to venue review and approval. All outside vendors must provide certificates of insurance.  

Yes. The New World Center is equipped with top-of-the-line production technology, including advanced lighting, sound, projection, camera, recording and presentation systems. While clients may bring in outside production vendors, we strongly recommend using New World Center’s in-house production team whenever possible. Our systems are highly specialized, and only authorized New World Center staff may operate venue-owned production equipment, with very limited exceptions.  

Yes. The New World Center can support hybrid, livestreamed, recorded and broadcast programs.  

Yes. Branding is generally permitted inside New World Center, subject to venue review and approval. Depending on the event and space, branding may include screen content, projected logos, lighting, signage, registration areas, branded bars, sponsor activations, step-and-repeat moments and other visual elements. Outdoor branding and activations on the plaza or in SoundScape Park are generally subject to obtaining a Special Events Permit from the City of Miami Beach. 

Clients are welcome to bring in their own entertainment, speakers, DJs, bands, or performers, subject to venue and technical approval. In select cases, our team may be able to make recommendations or coordinate with recommended partners. 

Yes. New World Symphony Fellows are available for private events. These performances can create a meaningful connection between your guests and the mission of New World Symphony, while adding a distinctive musical element to the event experience. 

Generally, yes. Ticketing depends on the type of event, whether it is public or private, the space being used, and the operational needs of the program. Public or ticketed events require additional review. If you issue your own tickets, you are responsible for ticket check-in. If tickets are issued through our system, our staff will be responsible for ticket scanning. 

Yes. The New World Center can accommodate guests with accessibility needs and is fully compliant with all ADA requirements. If you anticipate guests requiring accessible seating, mobility support, adjusted paths of travel, or other accommodation, please let us know in advance so our Guest Services team can plan appropriately and ensure those guests are well taken care of. 

The New World Center is located near two large City of Miami-owned parking garages on 17th Street, both adjacent to the venue. Parking, rideshare, shuttle, valet, vendor access, and guest arrival plans can be discussed during the planning process. For more information, visit Plan Your Visit page.
